Troop 98 was started from scratch in May of 2005, by a group of 9 Webelos who all had earned their Arrow of Light and wanted a Troop that was representative of the dedication they had put into Scouting.

What they decided at that point was to start their own unit and Troop 98 was born!

Now that the Troop has been up and running for a couple of years, the boys are ready to recruit and invite other boys that are in or past the 6th grade to come out and see what Scouting has to offer for them.

Our meetings are held at Paradise Education Center every Wednedsay from 6:30 pm until 8:00pm.

If you interested in being part of this award winning high adventure group this year, then this is the time to come and talk to us!

A few things to consider about enrollment in the Troop:

The enrollment of additional boys may be considered depending on willingness of parents to become Scout Leaders and to be heavily involved with thier son's Scouting path.

Absolute dedication by any boys AND their parents is required if you want your son to have a sucessful Scouting experieince. This includes thier attendance to all meetings and events.

Our Troop is very active and outdoor oriented, and that means MONTHLY outings and/or campouts. Attendance to these monthly outings should be treated as mandatory.

Because we are a fairly new Troop and because of our outdoor nature, families need to have their own camping equipment and boys need to be prepared and able to hike anywhere from 5-15 miles on any given outing. (we even did 36 miles as Webelos once to Havasupai!)

We are a spirit filled and proud group that continues to win awards everywhere we go. Boys or families that are not energized, motivated, and competitive will not fit into the group dynamic. Our boys work as hard as they play!

Discipline and respect are paramount to our success. Boys who can not maintain the proper levels of respect, attention, discipline, and progress towards advancement can and will be dismissed from the Troop. We take pride in old school Scout discipline and behavior and expect our Scouts to act like, well.. Scouts!

We are a self funded non-profit organization. This means that fundraising is our ONLY means of support. ALL boys & families must participate in each and every fundrasier that we hold in order for the Unit to survive.

Rough financials - Registration cost is $45 (includes Boys Life, Class B Shirt, Troop Hat & Troop Neckerchief)to cover until the end of Dec 2008.
Weekly dues are $2 per week and need to be tied to a specific chore that the boys do at home to earn and help to pay thier way.
Full Class A Uniforms are required and include: Custom Troop Hat & Neckerchief, Shirt & all patches, Slider, BSA Belt, Green BSA pants (or Green BSA Shorts with BSA Socks).

Additional fund raising costs and camping costs as they arise are also a normal part of being in this type of unit.

These are just a few guidelines for parents to review when deciding whether Troop 98 is a good fit for thier boys. Each Troop has a different mission or goal and ours is definitely set on taking these boys on an adventure while they follow the "Trail to Eagle".
